Check out the artwork from our first MAW Productions contest. The contest was to depict Jetta, Turra, Muley or any of the characters from our books in different spots in time! This MAW Productions contest entry is by the one and only Adam Shaw depicting Jetta in Feudal Japan offering up some samurai justice! Awesome piece!!
This MAW Productions contest entry is by Kenny Gordon! This one has both Jetta and Turra in the old west smack in the middle of a gunfight and ninja invasion. That’s a lot of action expertly done here! Sweet.
Take a look at all of the great art at our studio site at www.mawpro.com!
So, team Toshigawa has finally emerged from the convention tour we have been on for two weeks. While it was fun to hit Superman Celebration and Anime Blues Con in back to back weekends, it was also exhausting! We also made it out of the art whirlwind that was May and June that saw the release of Jetta: Beginnings from Action Lab Entertainment, Free Comic Book day, and our 2nd MAW Productions Drink N Draw. However, after the smoke cleared and the dust settled, we had two great convention experiences! Here’s a rundown of what you missed.
Superman Celebration was all about family for me and Janet as we took Anakin (our son not the Jedi/Sith) to his first real convention. Things where a little hectic juggling daddy duties and being available at the MAW Productions booth. But, in the end, things worked out well. So, since a picture is worth 1000 words, I got plenty of photos to show you guys.

Anakin also fell in love with Wonder Woman. He was looking for her after this picture so he could take another one with her.
Anime Blues Con 2012 was all about work, work, work. Some of you guys know that I’m also a convention head for the art track at ABC. What that means is, not only am I set up for the convention at the MAW Productions booth, but I am also responsible for artist alley, the art panels, and the artist guests of honor. It can be a lot of fun. But it is also very taxing. Here are a few photos from the weekend.

Out of the Blu number 1 made it's debut at ABC! This was awesome to see completed and have anime and manga fans read for the first time. Be on the look out for the web series coming soon.
Thanks to everyone that came out to both Superman Celebration and Anime Blues Con! You guys are what we do this for and I look forward to meeting you all out there on the convention road! Next stop, Memphis Comics and Fantasy Convention.
MAW Productions’ very own editor, Kevin L. Williams, will be participating in “Drawing Inspiration – From Idea to Reality,” an art show exhibiting progression pieces of Muley comic strips from beginning sketches to finished inked panels. On Februrary 11th from 5 – 7pm, you can come down to the DeSoto Arts Council and see this art show, watch live art demonstrations, and meet Mr. Williams as he completes a Muley comic strip from concept to inks.
Visit the Desoto Arts Council, 564 W. Commerce St., Hernando, MS 38632. “Drawing Inspiration” runs from February 11 – March 31, 2012.
This is such exciting news. As you know, our very own editor, Mr. Kevin L. Williams, is a HUGE Muppets fan. In September 2007, Martheus & I, along w/ Mr. Lin Workman, got to accompany him for a Master Replicas Kermit photoshoot to Leland, MS, Jim Henson’s birthplace.
Here are a few photos Lin and Kevin directed and shot from the trip…
And here’s the piece we were all very proud of.

Doesn’t it just speak volumes about the man and his creations? We all can relate to the joy Mr. Henson brought to us in our childhood, and even into adulthood. Everyone’s trying to find their Rainbow Connection, am I right? I’ve seen this image pop up a few times on social networking sites like facebook since posting these photos online. And that’s ok; you can’t keep happiness like this to yourself.
Ok. Fast forward to today, or more specifically, about earlier this week. Somehow this touching photo made its way to an Aussie TV spot during an interview for the new “Muppets” movie. Click on this link to visit the site and watch the video. Fast forward to about 3:44 & you’ll see it!

Superman Celebration is June 9th – 12th and we are excited to be a part again! This time, we will be attending in a big way. Here’s the run down.

For starters, we will have both Jetta and Turra at our booth for a meet and greet. Come to our booth and grab a photo with our leading ninja ladies and take home an autograph picture while you are at it.

Next up, Friday June 9th is the Muley and Friends Puppet Show at 2:30 PM. It’s the Muppets meets Denise the Menace as Muley T. Mule brings you a talent revue that you don’t want to miss. Santa Fish may make an appearance as well. Find out more here!
This year, Martheus Wade and Andrew Chandler will be doing something very special for the city of Metropolis and the attendees of the Celebration. They will be hosting classes called Breaking Into Comics Parts 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday. If you are interested on the different ways to get your work seen and published, you don’t want to miss these sessions. Bring your questions and get some insight on how this industry works.

This is a huge one. As you may know, Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa – Defiance was picked up to become a live action motion picture. We will have footage from the film at our booth at Superman Celebration!! We are really excited for our readers to see what has been going on with the film as well as feel the action packed footage we have for you. Come help us celebrate this landmark in our publishing history!

Our newest graphic novel titled Jetta: Tales of the Toshigawa – Full Circle is available for purchase. We will have copies on sale at Superman Celebration as well! If you have not ordered your copy from us and are a reader of the Toshigawa saga, you don’t want to miss this book. Fans who have read it are clamoring for the next book already. This is a must read. Grab a copy, get it signed by the Maw Productions Crew and enjoy the read!!

Last but certainly not least. We will be taking per-orders for Turra: Bombs and Betrayal at Superman Celebration! Get on the list early for this direct tie-in to the Jetta storyline. As a special offer to pre-order purchasers, we will be offering a free digital comic that will shed a little bit of insight into the key players in the Turra: Bombs and Betrayal graphic novel. This is a special offer that will only be available to pre-orderers so see us a Superman Celebration and order your copy!!

Looking forward to seeing you there!!
A word from our editor Mr. Kevin Williams:
Natural disasters are horrible. Especially something like what we have seen take place in Japan in recent weeks. Nobody should ever have to suffer this. The devastation that has happened in Japan due to the earthquake has burdened our hearts and we wish only the best for the people.

Team MAW
Alright. Our convention season ended with a bang as we packed up and headed out to Memphis Comic and Fantasy Convention last weekend. The Friday and Saturday con brought us many new readers as well as gave us a chance to get back in touch with old ones. It seems that the going question was, “When will Jetta: Full Circle be out.” I am working as hard and as fast as I can to bring you guys this next exciting chapter. Check out the preview pages below to see just how this story is shaping up.
Jetta, Turra and Muley were on hand taking photos and signing autographs for readers and the general convention attendee.

Eric is held hostage!
Muley the Mule and Buford the Dog were crowd favorites as well!!

Muley and Buford join the Watchmen.
Did I mention we had JETTA LEGOS being sold at the con? Sweet!!

On Sunday, I took part in a book signing for a project I was involved in over the summer. The book is titled “The Book of David” and chronicles the early life of David from the Bible. Lucky for me, I got to handle the David and Goliath chapter. Also, my design for the Goliath armor was made into a life-sized replica! Awesome!!

Goliath was a big man.
The crowd was good as we all (Adam Shaw, Andrew Chandler, Dean Zachary, Mitch Foust, Michael Thompson) all got our fill of signing the book.

The line forms for the artists to sign.
As you can see, last weekend was busy. But we had a good time visiting with friends, hanging out with the stars and signing a few books. Here’s hoping that next year will be just as fun. See you on the convention trail.
Well, hello from your favorite MAW Productions Editor (the only one, in fact). By now, you’re aware that I had an ugly spill whie performing a mascot for a local team and broke my arts arm. The plan was to forego any Chritmas video this year, but due to the inspiration of all my friends, Muley did a quick little video for 2009 (with the help of Martheus Wade who had a ‘helping hand’ in the making of this video).
Click the mule to see the video.
Also, Martheus had a hand in the creation of a popular character of the MuleyVerse, the holiday icon we all fear: SANTA FISH! Click here to learn more about Santa Fish.
We had a blast at Superman Celebration this year. Thanks to the city of Metropolis for inviting us. This year was extra special as this was the first convention that Martheus and Janet Wade’s son, Anakin, attended. As you can see by the photo at left, he was the coolest person in the MAW Productions crew. (More photos will be put up here soon.) Lin Workman, Tim Brown, Andrew Chandler, Adam and Penny Shaw, Jay Chupe, Kevin Williams, Janet Wade and Martheus all did an awesome job with the programing for Artist and Writers Alley.
It was a blast to meet Gail Simone and John Ostrander. Martheus got to show both of them his portfolio featuring a Wonder Woman story that he is writing and illustrating. The story will be placed up for free in the art gallery and the web stories page, so keep a look out. It was also fun to hang out with Mike Norton. He and Martheus attended the University of Memphis and since then, Mike has sky rocketed to the top of the comic book charts at DC Comics.
Muley and “Wonder Woman” Joan hosted the Kids’ Costume Contest and it was so much fun with 53 entrants! Lots of great kids participated, and the audience was wonderful. Superman was fun for Muley to banter with while the judges deliberated.
Jetta was a hit. Thanks to everyone who attended our panels on Friday and Saturday. Revelations about the future of Jetta and information on the movie option was discussed. A fun time was had by all. We hope the city invite us back in 2010. If so, we will see you guys next year. Make plans early and come out to have some fun.
